IELTS

IELTS is for students who wish to have their level of English tested for university entrance. IELTS is usually required for entry to UK colleges and universities and it tests the complete range of English language skills. This course can be combined with other EFL language courses at the school or it can be studied as a standalone course.

Entry Requirements

You do not need previous language qualifications but you must have English abilities at a minimum of intermediate level. You must also have an interview (either face-to-face or by telephone) with the IELTS tutor before you enrol to make sure you are suitable for the course. Please contact the college on 0044 (0)1582 724647 or email info@elasuk.com.

About the course

IELTS is required for entry to UK colleges and universities and it tests the complete range of English language skills. The course provides exam preparation for four papers: listening, academic reading, academic writing and speaking. You will study a range of revision and examination techniques plus grammar. The IELTS course runs all year round for approximately 44 weeks and is divided into 4 terms which begin in September, January, April and June. Exams are held frequently every month and students are able to arrange their study periods to suit their needs. Students can start the course on any Monday. You will be expected to buy a course book which will cost approximately £15-25. You can study this course in combination with any of the General English courses or as a standalone course.

Your tuition fee includes supplementary teaching materials, student handbook, use of internet facilities, and student ID card.

Your tuition fee does NOT include accommodation, course books, examination entry fees, bank charges, travel fees, and excursions. If you have any queries about tuition costs or payment of fees, please contact us on 0044 (0)1582 724647 or email info@elasuk.com

How will I be assessed?

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores are recognised by universities and colleges, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies. All four language skills (listening, academic reading, academic writing and speaking) are tested and you will receive a score out of 9 for each component.

Where next?

After you successfully sit your exam, you will have demonstrated your English abilities, which may be useful in your future career. You may wish to go on to a higher level EFL course or study on a mainstream course at college or university in the UK.
